Welcome to Malvin's Close Academy

Our school is a friendly, happy, vibrant school located in Blyth. We pride ourselves on being READY, RESPECTFUL, SAFE and KIND in all that we do in our school and in the community. Our youngest children are just three years old and can learn with us all the way up to Year Six (aged 11). We are proud to have been part of WISE Academies since 2018 and have close working relationships with all of our partner schools. 

We have an amazing teaching team and are very proud of how together, with our pupils, parents, governors and staff, we are a community of learners that grow together with the children at the very centre of everything we do. Our curriculum, outdoor provision and teaching is personalised to meet the needs and interests of our pupils and through our wealth of teaching expertise we celebrate all aspects of the National Curriculum with children and in the learning environment. Our caring and supportive ethos is designed with our families at the heart of our thoughts and we aspire for our children to leave us as learners who are motivated to learn more. Children are provided with opportunities to develop their leadership skills by being members of the PLT (pupil leadership team), School Parliament, becoming a prefect or Head Boy or Girl.

We are a fully inclusive school and welcome families from all backgrounds.  We are proud of the support we offer for children with special educational needs and their families.  We work closely with external agencies to ensure the best possible support is in place.  You are very welcome to contact our SENCo to discuss this further.

As a community school we offer a range of support including:- a food and clothing bank, community hub (for furniture, bedding etc), on site Citizens Advice Support  a Young Carers Hub, EAL support hub and parental learning centre. Our Family Team is available to help with a wide range of issues, as well as offering Nurture support to children in school. We work closely with a wide range of agencies to ensure our families feel as fully supported as possible by us.

We regularly take advantage of our local talents and business to promote children’s aspirations and knowledge of a wide range of careers. We work in partnership with our local and Trust schools to promote a wide range of sporting activities and competitions.
