Pupil Responsibilities
At Malvin’s Close Academy, we believe that giving pupils meaningful roles helps them grow into responsible, active members of our school community. Children are selected through a democratic process and take great pride in carrying out their responsibilities.
In addition to the leadership roles listed below, every child contributes to the smooth running of their classroom whether it’s looking after the plants or helping with daily routines. Every role, big or small, plays a part in making our school a happy, well-organised place to learn.
Parliament
We are the members of the Malvin’s Close Parliament. We work together to represent the voices of all pupils and bring positive changes to our school. We meet regularly to discuss ideas, gather feedback from our classes and help make important decisions. From fundraising events to changes in the playground, we aim to make sure every child feels heard.

WISE Academies Pupil Leadership Team (PLT)
We have been chosen to represent our school at a Trust Level. We meet regularly with representatives from other WISE schools in venues such as WISE Head Office and South Shields Town Hall. It is our responsibility to write the agenda for each meeting and decide on the topics and issues that we will discuss. We know that the decisions that we make have a direct impact on all of the children in our schools and we are very proud of this role.
Digital Leaders
We are the Digital Leaders and we help others use technology safely and confidently. We support pupils and staff in using computers, iPads and other devices. We also promote online safety across the school, helping to make sure everyone knows how to stay safe and kind when using the internet.

Head Boy & Head Girl (Year 6)
As Head Boy and Head Girl, we are proud to represent Malvin’s Close Academy. We welcome visitors, support school events and act as role models for the rest of the school. We take our responsibilities seriously and work hard to show what it means to be respectful, responsible and ready to learn.
Prefects (Year 6)
We have been chosen to model exceptional behaviour to other children in school. Our responsibilities include sitting with our year group in assembly, helping out the teachers and making sure everyone is safe in school.
Anti-Bullying Ambassadors
We are the Anti-Bullying Ambassadors and we want everyone in our school to feel safe, happy and included. We are always here to listen and help. If you feel worried or if you see someone being unkind, you can come to us. We are trained to support our friends and help make Malvin’s Close a place where kindness always comes first.
Sports Leaders
We are the Sports Leaders and we help make PE and playtimes active and fun! We lead games and activities, help set up equipment and encourage everyone to get involved. We also support sports events across the school and promote teamwork, resilience and fair play.
