As Chair of Governors, it gives me great pleasure in welcoming you to Malvin’s Close Academy.
We are a highly committed governing body, focused on ensuring the school team has high expectations for all children in our care.
Our governors bring with them a wealth of experience. They include parent/carer representatives, members of the Wise Academies team and those (like me) who have brought experience of working with other schools or businesses.
Our job is to hold school senior leaders to account for delivering high quality education to your children.
This means supporting and challenging them to always look at what we can do to improve children’s experience in school, and ensuring they are safe whilst in our care
I have always liked the saying ‘It takes a village to bring up a child.’ It means that for every one of our children to flourish as well-rounded individuals, we must work together to succeed – the school team, parents, carers and the wider community in Blyth.
Our children are the future nurses, artists, teachers, entrepreneurs, care workers, musicians, plumbers, doctors, builders, politicians, software developers, film producers, sports stars, engineers, hairdressers, scientists, mechanics….the list is endless.
We want them to look back on these years at Malvin’s Close Academy and remember them fondly.
When they are a little older, we want them to say that we were the first step to helping them learn new things, become excellent citizens who celebrate the differences in all of us, and above all else helped them to believe in themselves. We look forward to working with you all to ensure our children look back on this time of their lives when their many talents were recognised, nurtured and encouraged.
