The Blyth Literacy curriculum is designed to foster a love of reading. We believe that reading, and particularly reading for pleasure, has a direct impact on cognitive and social communicative development. Our aim is to develop every child’s potential to the point where they are reading at, or above, their chronological age. In addition to a rigorous reading curriculum, we ensure that we provide pupils with high quality phonics teaching so that they are able to speak, read and write fluently, so that they can communicate their ideas, emotions and ambitions to others clearly and effectively. In addition, we aim to equip our children with the skills, knowledge and creativity necessary to proficiently express their thoughts and ideas in written form.
